The $690,000 contract to repave the street from curb to curb is <br /> part of the Eu ene's street and alley preservation program. <br /> Wildis Construction plans to begin the first phase of the project, from Broadway to 11th <br /> Avenue, at 6 .m. Sunday. The contractor will dig up all the existing pavement, make minor <br /> sewer repairs nd install underground communication cables in several locations, and then repave <br /> the street. T second phase of construction, from 11th to 17th avenues, will begin when the <br /> first phase ha been completed. The entire project is expected to be completed by late October. <br /> Portio s of Pearl Street may be closed between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. At least one travel <br /> lane on the o e-way, southbound street will be open during daylight hours. However, motorists <br /> and bicyclists are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid detours and delays. Access to <br /> businesses al ng Pearl Street will be maintained during business hours. <br /> Pearl treet was identified as a high priority for rehabilitation through the City's <br /> pavement ma agement program. The Public Works Department determined that constructing a <br /> new road sur ace would be the most cost-effective way to repair Pearl Street because of the low <br /> structural str ngth of the existing pavement and the excessive crown on the street. <br /> i <br /> i <br /> 1- <br /> <br />
