No formal <br /> ',presentation is planned. People are invited to stop by at their convenience. Staff from the <br /> ',~ugene Pub is Works Department will be available to explain the project and talk with <br /> ;citizens abo t issues and concerns. <br /> -The ity of Eugene is planning to extend the Fern Ridge bicycle and pedestrian path <br /> and enhanc the Amazon Creek during the summer of 1996. Currently the path parallels the <br /> Amazon Cr ek from the Lane County Fairgrounds to Bailey Hill Road. The new section of <br /> ;bath will ru along the north bank of Amazon Creek, continuing from Bailey Hill Road and <br /> 'extending est to Terry Street. <br /> Duri g the construction of the path, the Amazon Creek also will be enhanced. Where <br /> 'suitable, th stream bed will be altered and the banks replanted with native wetland plants that <br /> !will improv water quality. The plants will act as natural filters for removing pollutants from <br /> 'the creek. nterpretive signs and viewing stations are planned along the path. The displays <br /> ',will help p h users better understand the area one of the last remnants of Willamette <br /> "'Valley prai ie wetlands and the wildlife who live there. <br /> Fun ing for the $2.25 million project will be provided by a federal Intermodal Surface <br /> !!Transportat' n Enhancement Act grant and a City of Eugene match. <br /> For ore information about the open house or the project, call 687-5291. <br /> <br /> i <br /> <br />
