Wet <br /> <br /> ~I, leaves on sidewalks are slippery and hazardous for pedestrians. <br /> Zucker offered the following suggestions for placing leaves safely in the street. Pile <br /> leaves on the street surface near the gutter, keeping the gutter and catch basins free of <br /> leaves. Windrow the leaves so they do not obstruct the flow of water along the curb. On <br /> streets without curbs and gutters, pile the leaves near the street surface, away from ditches. <br /> <br /> is Stack the haves so they don't block bike and traffic lanes or create hazardous situations for <br /> <br /> it <br /> bicyclists and motorists. Only pile leaves in a bike lane when there is no other alternative. <br /> If there is no alternative but to place leaves in bike lanes, keep at least half the lane's width <br /> open for bicycles. <br /> <br /> i <br /> The pity will keep a stockpile of leaves at the overflow parking lot at Alton Baker <br /> i <br /> Park on the east side of Day Island Road. Leaves at the stockpile site are available to <br /> citizens for composting. Residents also may dump leaves on the stockpile if they do not <br /> want to wait for the scheduled pickup in their area. Only leaves may be dumped at the <br /> stockpile. ',The stockpile site opened October 9, and will remain open through Sunday, Jan. <br /> 9, 1994. stockpile site hours are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., seven days a week. <br /> The city will deliver leaves to homes in the city limits and to locations just outside the <br /> city limits if there are enough leaves and the hauling distances aren't too great.
