Preliminary construction is <br /> scheduled to begin Friday, with the bulk of the 12-foot widening job expected <br /> to begin'in mid-May and continue through October. <br /> The~leastbound travel lanes (from Eugene to Springfield) will be kept <br /> open throughout the project, although motorists should expect intermittent <br /> traffic delays while construction is under way. Detours will be in effect <br /> for west~ound traffic (from Springfield to Eugene) during several phases of <br /> the project. When detours occur, westbound motorists will be directed to <br /> take Gateway Street to Beltline Road to avoid the construction area. <br /> The $400,000 overpass widening is the second phase of a jointly funded <br /> project esigned to improve Harlow Road for the 14,000 vehicles and the <br /> bicyclis s and pedestrians that use the street each day.
