<br /> l <br /> News Release Bicycle Overpass Project Receives Federal Funding <br /> May 13, 193 <br /> Page 2 <br /> under the 'Enhancement portion of the federal Intermodal Surface <br /> Transport tion Efficiency Act (ISTEA). <br /> Tota project costs are $612,200, with $490,600 coming from federal gas <br /> tax funds and the balance from local sources. <br /> Acc'rding to Diane Bishop, the city's bicycle and alternative modes <br /> coordinat r, the Jefferson Area Neighbors, the Friendly Area Neighborhood <br /> Association, and the Westside Neighborhood Quality Project have been <br /> requestin the overpass since the 1980s. "The project has been included as <br /> part of t e city's proposed capital projects for a number of years, but the <br /> city has fever had the funding to construct it.
