-
TALL GRASS PRESS RELEASE
Page 2
August 17, 1993
Hot, dry weather following a wet spring only compounds the problem of
overgrown vegetation. "Tall grass and weeds dry very quickly in hot weather,
increasing fire danger," says Foerstler.
Property owners are urged to check their properties to see if grass and
weeds are in violation of the vegetation ordinance. If violations are found
and the ~~r4perty owner does not remove the vegetation, the city will hire a
contractor to mow or remove it, and the costs, including administrative
charge, ill be billed to the property owner. The minimum charge for mowing
undevelo e~ property is $135. "Property owners usually find the mowing done
by a priNate contractor is less expensive than if the city's contractor
corrects', the violation," Foerstler says.
For more information about the City of Eugene's vegetation management
program,~~~c~ll 687-5220.
