c~~ <br /> FRANKL BOULEVARD CONSTRUCTION SET TO START <br /> Wildish Co struction has been awarded a $2.3 million contract to rehabilitate both the <br /> existing san tary sewer system and pavement in Franklin Boulevard from High Street to <br /> + Walnut Str t. Work will begin in early July and is scheduled to be completed by September <br /> 30. <br /> The majori of the project will focus on replacing the aged sanitary trunk sewer in Franklin <br /> + Boulevard om Kincaid to Walnut. The paving element is a cooperative effort involving the <br /> City and th Oregon Department of Transportation, which has jurisdiction of the state <br /> highway. DOT will contribute approximately $440,000 in state highway preservation funds <br /> to repave t e highway from approximately 400 feet east of Walnut to High Street, including <br /> Broadway d the approaches to Sixth and Seventh avenues. The contract is being <br /> administere by the City's Public Works Department. The University of Oregon and EWEB <br /> have Indic ed they will use the opportunity to install new utilities while Franklin Boulevard <br /> is under co struction. <br /> To minimi a inconvenience for motorists, much of the construction on Franklin Boulevard <br /> will be do a between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. At least one lane will be kept open in each direction <br /> during the fight-time construction, although motorists should expect delays and occasional <br /> detours. D ring the daytime, there will be some lane closures to allow traffic signal work. <br /> + All lanes 'll be open for traffic during the morning and afternoon rush hours. <br /> The gener 1 public will be informed of construction activities through news releases.
