Turbidity results
when the s' t on the river bottom is disturbed during the trenching work. The entire process
has been th roughly reviewed by the U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Oregon
Division o State Lands (ODSL), and the Army Corps of Engineers. These agencies have
issued per its to the City to ensure the project will not disturb fish or aquatic life. The
' contractor ust work within the guidelines outlined in the permits. The ODSL will monitor
the project closely.
Ac rding to Project Manager Doug Weber, similar installations have occurred in
Eugene an other locations downstream using this technique, with excellent results.
Phase II
The second phase of construction will begin this September. It will continue through
August 19 5 and will include construction of a new pump station and installation of new
gravity se er pipes to connect the existing sewer lines to the new system.
~ Th new pump station will be built in Glenwood, just north of the Auto Brokers on
Franklin B ulevard.
