CC Newsl tter Article <br /> July 15, 19 4 <br /> GILHAM ARK CLOSED JULY 8 <br /> i <br /> Respondin to direction given in the Willakenzie Refinement plan, Gilham Park, which is <br /> undevelope parkland abutting Gilham Road near Gilham Elementary School, has been exchanged for <br /> anew park site to the east of Gilham Elementary School and for $68,800. In the exchange agreement, <br /> the City tr ed the 6.67-acre, undeveloped Gilham Park for 3.23 acres owned by Paradise Homes and <br /> received $ 8,800 to make up the difference in land values. The 3.23 acre site will be developed into <br /> a new park At this time, staff is proposing the money be used to purchase a second park site in the <br /> Willakenzi area. As a result of the exchange, Gilham Park was closed on July 8. <br /> Paradise H mes plans to build residential homes at the Gilham Park site. Roads into the new park <br /> will be con tructed as part of the Paradise Homes subdivision. This exchange will provide an <br /> improved p k location in the Willakenzie area and will increase the safety of park users because the <br /> new park i located away from Gilham Road, a major arterial. The exchange was coordinated with <br /> EWEB and Gilham Elementary School. School District 4-J plans to construct a new playground at <br /> ~ Gilham Ele entary School adjacent to the new park site. <br /> The dog-o -leash area that was part of Gilham Park has been closed as a result of the exchange and <br /> ~ because the a is currently no access to the new park site. For now, off -leash area users are being <br /> directed to he off-leash area in Alton Baker Park. <br /> <br /> ~r?
