<br /> - <br /> Public Works <br /> City of Eugene <br /> 858 Pearl Street <br /> Eugene, Oregon 97401 <br /> (503) 687-5262 <br /> August 4, 1 94 <br /> CONTACT Ron Bittler, Wastewater, 984-8604 <br /> Pam Pulliam, Wastewater, 984-8615 <br /> From Sandr Gleason, Public Communication Manager, 687-5523 <br /> FOR IMM DIATE RELEASE <br /> SANITARY SEWER SERVICE HAULER PERMITS REVOKED <br /> Effe tive Friday, August 5, at 1 p.m., Buck's Sanitary Service, Inc., and Ace Sanicans, <br /> Inc. will no onger be permitted to discharge wastes at the Eugene/Springfield Water Pollution <br /> Control Faci ity (regional wastewater treatment facility) because of their failure to comply <br /> with the pro isions of their mobile waste hauler permits. <br /> On ugust 1, 1994, the Eugene City Council adopted the Metropolitan Wastewater <br /> Managemen Commission's findings and recommendations and revoked the waste hauler <br /> permits for uck's and Ace. On August 3, the Eugene city manager denied the permit <br /> application r newal requested by the two haulers, and Buck's and Ace will no longer be able <br /> to discharge waste at the regional wastewater treatment facility. <br /> To p otect public health and safety, the City allowed atwo-day extension from <br /> ~I <br /> ' Wednesday, ugust 3 until Friday, August 5, in order to allow Bucks and Ace sufficient time <br /> to comply th the order.. <br /> The ugust 3 decision was the final step in a process that began in September 1993. <br /> i <br /> F In Septembe ,the City notified Buck's and Ace that it intended to revoke their waste hauler <br /> permits beca se of evidence of illegal dumping of sewage into the regional sewer system at <br /> i, i locations oth r than the regional wastewater treatment facility. <br /> i <br /> more <br /> <br />
