An orientation at <br /> 9:00 a.m. 'n the former church parking lot located at the corner of Fox Hollow and West <br /> <br /> i <br /> Amazon St eets will kick-off the work party. The event is sponsored by the Southeast <br /> Neighbors eighborhood Association, Friends of the Amazon, and the City of Eugene Public <br /> Works De artment. <br /> Vol nteers should wear sturdy shoes or boots and gloves and bring toppers and/or a <br /> hand saw. Refreshments will be provided by donations from Albertson's and Safeway Stores. <br /> Ro tine vegetation management is a key element in managing the Amazon to maintain <br /> its ability carry runoff from surrounding development and hillside areas. Vegetation and <br /> debris in t e creek obstructs necessary flow and causes backups in nearby piped drainage <br /> systems. his may result in localized flooding of adjacent streets and cause damage to both <br /> private an public property from overflows and inadequate drainage. <br /> Th City's Public Works Maintenance Division conducts regular cleaning operations <br /> on the sys em to avert such problems.
