<br /> L <br /> PUBLIC WO S DEPARTMENT • 858 PEARL • EUGENE, OREGON 97401 <br /> NEWS RELEASE <br /> January 5 1990 <br /> CONTACT: Brant Williams, Traffic Engineer, 687-5218 <br /> Paul Klope, Project Engineer, 687-5246 <br /> FOR IMMED ATE RELEASE <br /> CIT TO INSTALL NEW TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT COBURG ROAD AND CHAD DRIVE <br /> Inst llation of a new traffic signal at the intersection of Coburg Road <br /> and Chad rive will begin on Monday, January 8. The city of Eugene has <br /> contracte with L.R. Brabham, Inc., of Springfield to install the signal. <br /> The nstallation will take about three months to complete. In January, <br /> Brabham's crews will begin the underground work, including laying the <br /> electrica conduit and pouring the support for the signal pole bases, and <br /> EWER will remove their pole along the east side of Coburg Road and install <br /> undergrou d facilities. This will enable the city to complete the road work <br /> for a new right-turn lane from Coburg onto Chad Drive. Brabham will return <br /> in March o install and test the new traffic signal; they plan to have it in <br /> operation by the first of April. <br /> Acco ding to City Traffic Engineer Brant Williams, the city has been <br /> negotiate g with Shopko and Costco for over a year about the signal and other <br /> improveme is along Coburg and to Chad Drive. Williams said coordinating the <br /> opening o the stores with the new traffic signal was not possible, but that <br /> the city as made every attempt to complete the design of the signal and <br /> begin the installation as quickly as possible. <br /> more <br /> III <br /> I ,I <br /> <br />
