<br /> r i. <br /> NEWS RELEASE <br /> I,~ May 10, 19 0 <br /> CONTACT: iane Bishop, Transportation, 687-5218 <br /> From Sandr Gleason, Public Information, 687-5523 <br /> FOR IMMEDI TE RELEASE <br /> EUGENE BICYCLE COMMITTEE TO HOST PUBLIC COMMENT SESSION <br /> I <br /> "Bicyc ing Into The 21st Century" is the title of an open house that the <br /> city of Eu ene Bicycle Committee is sponsoring on Tuesday, May 15, 3:30 to <br /> 8:30 p.m., at the Westmoreland Community Center, 1545 West 22nd Avenue to <br /> talk with community residents about the future direction of bicycling in <br /> Eugene. <br /> For early 20 years, the committee has worked under the Eugene Bikeway <br /> Master P1 n. Under that plan, they have developed a bike route system that <br /> has won n tional recognition. <br /> "In t e last few years, we've seen some changes in the way people use <br /> their bic cles," said city Bicycle Coordinator Diane Bishop. "For example, <br /> mountain ike use is gaining in popularity. Given these changes, the <br /> committee decided to review the plan to ensure it still meets the needs of <br /> area bicy lists. The open house is an opportunity for area residents to give <br /> us input n issues such as bicycle safety, commuting by bicycle, bikeway <br /> maintenan e, recreational use, education, and family/group bicycling.
