Existing trees in the affected section <br /> of the me ian on Agate and along the west side of Agate in the one-block <br /> section w 11 be removed but will be replaced with an equal number of red <br /> maples an scarlet oaks. <br /> i <br /> Acce s to the businesses along Franklin will be maintained at all times, <br /> and two 1 nes of traffic in each direction on Franklin Boulevard will be kept <br /> open exce t for a short period of time when the contractor will be installing <br /> conduit f r utility lines. The project will cause a temporary disruption of <br /> automobil bicycle, and pedestrian traffic in the immediate construction <br /> zone, but the city, the university, and the contractor will take steps to <br /> reduce pr blems for those who have to travel in the area. <br /> The roject also will accommodate the University of Oregon's plan to <br /> develop a more formal campus entrance at Agate Street, such as the Westgate <br /> ~ entrance n East Thirteenth at Kincaid. <br /> The iverfront Research Park is a joint venture of the University of <br /> Oregon, t e city of Eugene, the State Board of Higher Education, and the <br /> State of regon to develop a university related research park on state-owned <br /> property djacent to the university campus. A private developer will finance <br /> and const uct the park's buildings. <br /> 4~ 4~ <br /> <br />
