The Council will <br /> make a deci ion about whether or not to approve the proposed ordinance. If <br /> adopted, it would go into effect this winter. <br /> The or finance was developed to help the city keep priority streets open <br /> during ice nd snow storms. It would allow the city to ban parking on <br /> <br /> ~r <br /> priority on and two streets and on priority three streets, as needed, during <br /> winter sto s or when more than one inch of snow accumulates. <br /> Accor ing to Maintenance Director Bob Hammitt, parked cars seriously <br /> ~ hamper the ability of staff to maneuver sanders and snow plows safely, and <br /> they restr'ct the ability of buses and emergency vehicles to move safely and <br /> efficient) on icy streets. <br /> Durin moderate snow storms, parking would be prohibited along priority <br /> one and tw streets; only during severe storms would parking be banned on <br /> priority t ree streets. The ban would remain in effect until the snow <br /> F emergency as over.
