The meeting will be held in the Souza Room at <br /> the Eugene Conference Center, West 6th Avenue. During the information <br /> <br /> i <br /> session, p rticipants will have an opportunity to talk with city staff and <br /> task force members about the proposed rate changes and the new legislation <br /> that requi ed the city to revise its ordinance. <br /> Syste development charges (SDCs) are fees that are collected when new <br /> developmen occurs in the city. SDCs have been collected by the city of <br /> Eugene sin a 1978, and some similar types of fees were collected by the city <br /> as far bac as 1948. The fees are used to fund a portion of the construction <br /> of new inf astructure, such as sanitary and storm sewers, streets, and as now <br /> proposed, arks facilities. <br /> The 0 egon state legislature recently adopted a comprehensive state law <br /> that requi es cities in Oregon, including the city of Eugene, to revise their <br /> SDC ordina ces by July 1, 1991. The new legislation provides a uniform <br /> <br /> 3 <br /> framework hat all local governments must follow to collect and expend SDC <br /> fees. <br /> <br /> i <br /> <br />
