It provided a <br /> ~ way for Or gon to build miles of quality bikeways and put Oregon in the lead <br /> on bicycle issues. In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the passage of <br /> this bill, a copy of the Oregon Bike Bill will be encased in a baton and <br /> carried fr m Ashland, the home of Don Stathos (the author of the bill) to <br /> Portland i time for the grand opening of a section of bicycle path along the <br /> ~ I-205 free ay. <br /> The bill will be carried from Ashland to Medford, then on to Grants <br /> Pass, then to Roseburg, next to Eugene, then to Corvallis, on to Salem, <br /> ending in ortland on June 15. <br /> A series of events are planned in Eugene and Springfield. Bicycle <br /> riders fro Roseburg. will arrive in Eugene on Thursday, June 13, at 5:15 <br /> p.m.. The ommunity is invited to welcome them when they arrive at the 4th <br /> Avenue Plaz at EWEB. At 5:30 a formal ceremony will begin. Don Stathos; <br /> retired Sen for George Wingard, co-sponsor of the bill; and Eugene and <br /> Springfield mayors, Jeff Miller and Bill Morrisette will be on hand to <br /> welcome the relay riders.
