Eugene's Bicycle Commute <br /> Week is p rt of the statewide Bicycle Commute Week. <br /> The ugene Bicycle Committee has scheduled a number of activities <br /> throughou the week to encourage the use of bicycling or other modes of <br /> travel. ccording to Diane Bishop, city of Eugene bicycle coordinator, <br /> commuting to work by bicycle, walking, or bus is a simple step residents can <br /> take to p otect air quality and lessen traffic congestion. "Often people <br /> feel over helmed with the idea of cleaning up the world environment, but <br /> walking, iding a bicycle, or using a bus, even for one day a week, can make <br /> a differe ce." <br /> The ollowing events are designed to introduce potential bicycle <br /> commuters to bicycling. A Bicycle Fair is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, <br /> from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the corner of 8th and Oak. Fair activities will <br /> include.i formation booths about cycling.
