Voters approved the reopening of the <br /> <br /> 'two-block s ction of Olive to two-way traffic in the_ May 20 election. <br /> According to Doug Weber, project manager, the city is turning the <br /> fountain of to allow the soil under it to dry out before construction <br /> begins. "T a fountain has a leak that has kept the soil pretty wet," Weber <br /> said. "We n ed to dry it out before construction begins to ensure we can get <br /> an even gra e. When we begin the project, we will have to excavate the wet <br /> areas and f 11 them with gravel. Allowing the soil to dry will reduce the <br /> amount of a cavation and fill needed." <br /> The ci y is tentatively planning to begin construction to reopen the <br /> street at t e end of June. Completion is scheduled for mid-September in time <br /> for the Eug ne Celebration. <br /> The st eet will include two, 14-foot-wide lanes for two-way traffic with <br /> signed bicy le routes, left-turn lanes at the 8th and 10th avenue <br /> intersectio s, 14 to 16 short-term parallel parking bays, sidewalk areas for <br /> pedestrians, approximately 24 red maple street trees, new street lights <br /> <br /> !,similar to hose on Broadway, special paving materials, and some brick <br /> <br />
