<br /> i ~ <br /> Public Works <br /> City of Eugene <br /> 858 Pearl Street <br /> Eugene, Oregon 97401 <br /> N E W S R E L E A S E (503) 687-5262 <br /> June 1, 1992 <br /> CONTACT: Doug Weber, Engineer, 687-5291 <br /> Bud DeSantis, Project Manager, 687-5291 ~a3 D <br /> From Sand a Gleason, Public Communications Manager, 687-5523 <br /> FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> WILDISH CONSTRUCTION APPARENT LOW BIDDER ON STREET CONSTRUCTION PROJECT <br /> Wildish Construction Company is the apparent low bidder in a competitive <br /> bidding t reconstruct the Franklin Boulevard and Onyx street intersection. <br /> Sealed bi s were opened on Wednesday, May 28, with Wildish submitting a low <br /> bid of $1 9,273. <br /> A nu ber of improvements are planned to the intersection including <br /> reconstru ting and repaving the road; installing curb/gutter, sidewalks, <br /> storm sew rs, and traffic signals; and shifting the existing intersection and <br /> traffic s gnat 75 feet to the east to facilitate the future construction of a <br /> bridge ov r the Millrace. <br /> Cons ruction on the intersection is planned to begin in late June, with <br /> completio scheduled for September 15, 1992. <br /> The regon Department of Transportation is funding the project; the city <br /> of Eugene Public Works Department will provide design and project inspection. <br /> The oad improvements will occur in conjunction with the construction of <br /> the River runt Research Park on University of Oregon (UO) property north of <br /> Franklin oulevard and with the second phase of a continuing UO traffic <br /> safety and parking improvement project on the south side of Franklin <br /> Boulevard. <br /> <br />
