C' ~ <br /> ~ <br /> OLIVE STR ET CONSTRUCTION BEGINS MONDAY, JUNE 29 <br /> On Monday June 29, Eugene Sand and Gravel will begin construction to reopen <br /> Olive Str et to two-way traffic. Early Monday morning, the contractor will <br /> remove al the trees on Olive between 8th and 10th avenues and will begin <br /> removing he fountain and planter walls. On Monday and Tuesday, the south <br /> lane of t affic on 8th Avenue will be closed to install a temporary entrance <br /> to the pa king lot on the southeast corner of 8th and Olive. Over the next <br /> few weeks crews will excavate the existing roadway, install storm sewer <br /> lines, co struct curbs and sidewalks, and plant 22 new street trees. During <br /> construct on, the two-block section of Olive will be completely closed to <br /> traffic. Pedestrian access to the businesses on Olive will be maintained at <br /> all times Signs have been placed at both 8th and 10th avenues to help <br /> pedestria s maneuver through the construction, and staff have been working <br /> closely with the businesses along Olive and those nearby on the mall. <br /> Substanti 1 completion is scheduled for mid-September, in time for the Eugene <br /> <br /> Celebrati n.
