Substantial completion is scheduled <br /> for mid-S ptember in time for the Eugene Celebration. <br /> Some preparatory work, such as installing the construction fence, began <br /> on Thursd y, June 25. Next week, the contractor will install temporary <br /> lighting or the new street lights; remove trees, the fountain, and planter <br /> walls; an excavate the existing roadway, beginning at 10th and moving north. <br /> The proje t will include repaving Olive; installing curbs, storm sewer lines, <br /> and sidew lks; and planting 22 new street trees. <br /> Oliv will be completely closed to traffic. Pedestrian access to <br /> businesse along the street and to the downtown mall will be maintained at <br /> all times. Two lanes of traffic on 8th Avenue will remain open. However, on <br /> Monday or Tuesday, the south lane will be closed to install a temporary <br /> entrance o the parking lot located at the southeast corner of 8th and Olive. <br /> When completed, Olive will have two, 14-foot-wide lanes for two-traffic, <br /> with sign d bicycle routes, a left-turn lane at the 8th and 10th avenue <br /> more <br /> <br />
