<br /> Z'Y~4r ~ M <br /> Public Works <br /> City of Eugene <br /> 858 Pearl Street <br /> Eugene, Oregon 97401 <br /> N E W.: S R E L E A S E (503) 687-5262 <br /> August 5, 1992 <br /> CONTACT: Paul Anderson, Project Manager, 687-5291 <br /> From Sand a Gleason, Public Communication Manager, 687-5523 <br /> fOR IMMED ATE RELEASE <br /> RECONSTRUCTION OF OAKWAY ROAD BEGINS <br /> Oakw y Road from Oakmont Way to Cal Young Road will be completely closed <br /> to throug traffic beginning August 13 when reconstruction of Oakway begins. <br /> During th road reconstruction project, Eugene Sand and Gravel, contractors <br /> for the $ 46,621 project, will grind off the top of the deteriorating <br /> pavement, install storm sewer lines, remove and replace curb and gutter at <br /> intersect'ons, repave the street, and repaint traffic markings. <br /> Resi ents and fire and emergency vehicles will be able to enter the area <br /> at the so th end of Oakway•Road near Fairway Loop. Oakway will be closed to <br /> all traffic at the north end of Cal Young Road. Streets with more than one <br /> entrance hat feeds onto Oakway Road will be blocked at one end. Flaggers <br /> will be o hand to direct traffic. <br /> Comp etion is tentatively scheduled for August 28. Construction hours <br /> will usually run from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m, but may run as late as 7 p.m., <br /> depending on weather and construction factors. <br /> South bound Lane Transit District buses will not be able to use Oakway <br /> Road. N rthbound buses will be detoured onto Oakmont Drive, where they will <br /> stop to ick up passengers. Buses will continue to stop at Cal Young Road <br /> and Oakw y at the regular bus stop. Detours should not affect bus schedules. <br /> <br />
