The water quality project, one <br /> of the fi st of its kind in the Eugene area, will collect and clean the <br /> ~ runoff fr m buildings, parking lots, and roadways along Goodpasture Island <br /> Road in t e vicinity of the Boulders on the River apartment complex. <br /> City of Eugene Public Works staff will monitor water quality results <br /> closely t gauge the effectiveness of using natural areas to treat <br /> stormwate Recent revisions to the federal Clean Water Act require cities <br /> with popu ations over 100,000 to develop comprehensive Stormwater management <br /> plans to educe the amount of pollutants entering streams and channels <br /> through s ormwater runoff. <br /> The unoff treatment work being done by Wildish Construction Co. uses a <br /> shallow s ale and natural vegetation to disperse and filter Stormwater before <br /> it enters the Delta Ponds. Two storm sewer lines will empty into a <br /> grass-lined swale designed to hold and disperse runoff so it can spread over <br /> a wider rea. From the swale, the runoff will drain slowly through grasses <br /> and will ws before it enters the ponds. <br /> more <br /> <br />
