The changes have occurred in the following areas:
sweeping outes, use of sweepers, and the approach to seasonal street
sanitatio needs.

~ Street Sw a in Pro ram
The Stree Sanitation work section is responsible for sweeping and flushing
713 miles of curb and gutter streets within the Eugene city limits. To do

I, this, the crew uses a small alley/bike path vacuum sweeper and three large
sweepers onsisting of two mechanical broom sweepers and one recirculating
air sweep r.
The sweeping program operates two shifts each day: a night shift, which
begins at 11 p.m. and ends at 7 a.m., and a day shift, which operates from 7
a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Night shift routes cover the downtown core area and most
arterials. This minimizes the impacts to daytime business operations and
those areas with heavy traffic and allows a more efficient sweeping
operation. Day shift routes cover the residential streets and any remaining
arterials.
