Planning, steady growth and strong <br /> teamwor are the hallmarks which characterize the first two years <br /> of Unit d Express/NPA. <br /> On July 27, 1987, when the airline launched its first <br /> schedul d flight, just two cities, a single aircraft and 12 <br /> flights summed up its operations. By this time last year, the <br /> company had grown to 13 cities, 16 aircraft and nearly 150 <br /> flights each business day. <br /> To ay, as it marks its second year in business, United <br /> Express NPA operates a fleet of 23 aircraft, and serves 15 cities <br /> with mo e than 220 daily flights a dramatic growth from that <br /> ' fledgli g flight on inaugural day. Altogether, the company <br /> annuall generates nearly $4 million in payroll and taxes to the <br /> Tri-Cites economy. <br /> Cr ig Belmondo, president of the airline, says he is proud <br /> I <br /> of the events which have earned the company public attention. <br /> f <br /> Belmond insists, however, that plans, aircraft and investments <br /> would b worth little without the dedicated performance of the <br /> more th n 500 associates who comprise the United Express/NPA work <br /> force. <br /> A rief recap of the past year shows a number of outstanding <br /> events: <br /> i <br /> s <br /> In September, the airline's parent company, WestAir Holding, <br /> Inc., ade a well-received initial public stock offering.
