The eeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at 777 Pearl <br /> Street. <br /> City st ff from Eugene and Springfield have jointly developed the pro- <br /> . <br /> <br /> i~,,,,, posed ordin nce in response to concerns expressed to the City that some pub- <br /> lic passeng r companies may be operating unsafe and inadequately insured <br /> vehicles an engaging in rate-gouging practices. The new regulations would <br /> cover taxic bs, limousines, airport shuttles, and horse-drawn vehicles. <br /> Current y, the City of Springfield licenses taxi companies. The City of <br /> Eugene regu ates companies solely through its Uniform Business Practices, but <br /> no monitori g is done to assure compliance. Both cities certify drivers, but <br /> use differe t processes. ' <br /> I'~, Under t e proposed ordinance, taxi regulations in Chapter 3 of the Eugene <br /> ~'i Code and Ch pter 8 of the Springfield Code would be revised. The new regula- <br /> tions would create one licensing system for both communities to be adminis- <br /> tered by Eu ene.
