<br /> ti 1 <br /> I <br /> NEWS RELEASE <br /> September 30, 1986 <br /> CONTACT: Bob Noble, Public Works Traffic Technician, 687-5242 <br /> Sandra Gleason, Public Information, 687-5523 <br /> FOR IMMED ATE RELEASE <br /> i <br /> CITY INSTALLS TEST DIVERTER <br /> On 0 tober 1 and 2, City of Eugene Public Works crews will install a test <br /> traffic d verter in the north/south alley between 13th and 15th Avenues at <br /> the prope ty lines of the University of Oregon and William's Bakery. <br /> Acco ding to Bob Noble, Public Works traffic technician, the diverter <br /> will chan el business traffic back to 13th and to Villard and away from the <br /> campus ho sing neighborhood. "The diverter was requested by representatives <br /> from the niversity of Oregon and East Campus Housing to help separate the <br /> commercia activity from the University of Oregon residential area." <br /> City staff will study the effects of the diverter on the traffic flow <br /> for a min mum of six months. When they have the results, they will schedule <br /> a public Baring. The results of the tests and the hearings will be forwarded <br /> to the Eu ene City Council, who will decide whether or not to install a <br /> permanent diverter in the area. <br /> ~ The lley will be closed, and signs will be installed at both 13th and <br /> ~ 15th Aven es to alert motorists to the closure.
