News Rele se Richardson Bridge Bike Ramp <br /> March 3, 987 <br /> ' Page 2 <br /> The ichardson Bridge, built in 1912 and identified in the National <br /> Historic egister as the oldest remaining steel truss bridge in Oregon, was <br /> <br /> a~ <br /> moved las year to the Amazon Channel from the Siuslaw River, where it <br /> connected Stagecoach Road and Upriver Road with Oregon State Highway 126. <br /> The bridg spans the Amazon Channel as a bicycle and pedesterian bridge and <br /> provides critical link in the Fern Ridge bike path, which is the longest <br /> route in he Eugene Bikeway Master Plan. When the bike path is completed, <br /> it will r n from 15th and Jefferson in Eugene to the Fern Ridge Reservoir. <br /> ' The bike ath is currently completed to Quaker Street, near the Richardson <br /> Bridge. pother section of the bike path will be constructed this summer and <br /> will exte d from the Richardson Bridge to Baily Hill Road. <br /> The ity has used volunteer labor and private contributions to install <br /> and recon truct the bridge.
