Crews will construct curbs, gutters, and <br /> a 10-foot idewalk, and install landscaping and special historic lighting. <br /> i <br /> Constructi n will continue through September 4. <br /> Accor ing to Ivan Koehn, city of Eugene project inspector, the $109,878 <br /> Constructi n project is part of a city beautification project initiated by a <br /> special co mittee for 5th Avenue Improvements. "The improvements are planned <br /> ~ around an istoric theme that the committee plans to establish for the area. <br /> 7 Classic-st le overhead lights and tree wells with iron grates and brick <br /> lining will match those installed on the downtown Broadway project this <br /> summer," s id Koehn. <br /> i Special trees were selcted to beautify the landscape, yet permit easy <br /> viewing of torefronts and minimize the blockage of light from the street <br /> lights, Koe n said. The city of Eugene will provide the 13 trees that will <br /> be planted ater this year during the fall planting season. <br /> Two wa traffic will be maintained, and parking along 5th Avenue will be <br /> restricted uring the construction.
