By the fall of <br /> 1961, he ad received his professional land surveyor license and had become <br /> chief cit surveyor. "Mel was responsible for many changes in the division," <br /> Lyle said "He developed the benchmark and Oregon coordinate systems, was <br /> instrumen al in developing the first computer system used by Engineering, and <br /> he helped develop our new, state-of-the-art survey system." <br /> <br /> i <br /> A re irement party is planned for January 28, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., in the <br /> ' Jacobs Ro m at the Hult Center.
