Nelson Sandren from Corvallis, Peter Teneau from <br /> Portland and David Joyce of Eugene were selected from the 216 proposals <br /> received by the city of Eugene Visual Arts Commission. <br /> Nel on Sandgren will create two murals for the upper south and north <br /> ~r walls th t run along both sides of the escalator in the central main lobby. <br /> The mura s will depict scenes from the Willamette Valley and northwest area <br /> and will be painted directly onto the walls with acrylic paint. Sandgren <br /> will beg n painting the mural in July, 1989, after the first phase of the <br /> terminal reconstruction is completed. Visitors to the airport will be able <br /> to watch Sandgren and his assistants do the actual painting. <br /> San gren is a well-known artist whose paintings have been selected <br /> for regi nal and national exhibits. His work is represented in public and <br /> private ollections throughout Oregon, including the University of Oregon, <br /> Oregon S ate University, Portland Art Museum, Benton County Library, Grants <br /> Pass Art Museum, Coos Art Museum, and the First Presbyterian Church in Eugene, <br /> Last yea he taught a watercolor course at the University of Oregon. <br /> Sandgren will receive $30,000 for his work. <br /> more <br /> i <br /> I <br /> <br />
