The city is urging residents to be careful when <br /> ' walking, d iving, or bicycling on sanded roads, bike paths, sidewalks, or <br /> pedestrian rosswalks until city maintenance crews have swept up the sand. <br /> Accordi g to Bob Hammitt, city maintenance director, traffic has pushed <br /> most of the sand in the main travel lanes onto adjacent bicycle lanes and <br /> crosswalks, and he advised bicyclists to avoid bike lanes along arterial <br /> j <br /> streets. S'nce many city sidewalks are still sandy, he urged pedestrians to <br /> be careful hen walking on loose sand to avoid slipping. He also cautioned <br /> i motorists a out driving too fast in areas where the sand has not worn off. <br /> <br /> ' ~ During the next three weeks, maintenance crews will be working <br /> throughout he city to sweep up the sand applied during the storm.
