Please contact me or Tom Larsen at the phone number below if
you need additional information.
Project name: Acquire and renovate facility to serve as multimodal transportation center, Eugene.
1. Give a detailed description of the project that will be carried out with the TEA-21 earmarked
funds.
The project will entail acquiring as a publicly-owned asset the Eugene passenger train station (Amtrak
station) which is now privately owned; performing design and engineering work; and improving the
building, grounds, access and parking. The project concept has been developed based on earlier
studies and recent review by the Mayor's North End Scoping Group, but detailed site planning and
design has not yet occurred.
2. Describe how the project will be funded. Give the total project cost and identify each funding
source (federal programs, state gas tax, local or other) and amounts. Make sure to identify how the
TEA-21 earmarked funds will be used.
Cost estimates have not yet been prepared for various elements of the project. It is anticipated that the
total project will cost more than the amount of funds available at this time. The following table shows
the expected expenditure of funds for the first phase of the project, using currently available funding:
Preliminary engineering:
Land acquisition and
construction of Phase 1 improvements
TEA-21 funds Amtrak funds Total
$200,000 $50,000 $250,000
1,800,000 450,000 2,250,000
Total $2,000,000 $500,000 $2,500,000
