This proposal
briefly reiterates my understanding of your needs and identifies roles and
steps that I propose which are designed to engage and facilitate the
stakeholder. group in a process to identify design recommendations for
improvements to River Avenue.
My understanding of my involvement with the this process includes:
1) Review public meeting notes and other pertinent documents related
to the River Avenue street improvement process prior to first
stakeholder meeting;
2) Meet with stakeholder representatives from the River Avenue
property owners, Santa Clara and River Road Community
Organizations, and the Bike Coalition to explain the process,
identify potential areas of agreement and disagreement and hear
key issues and concerns prior to the first stakeholder meeting.;
3) Facilitate three stakeholder meetings between Mid-August and
early October to identify the issues associated with River Avenue's
current status and explore options for addressing safety, access and
regulatory concerns, as well as design and cost issues with the
intent of finding a mutually acceptable resolution to these key
issues by all stakeholder representatives.
4) Write a summary report of the stakeholder group's discussions,
decisions and preferences. If consensus among the stakeholders
cannot be reached, the report will identify the majority and
minority opinions among stakeholders. The report would then be
included with information forwarded onto City Council.
