' Dragonfly Bend Habitat Enhancement Project. Scope of Work Page 2
Pacific Water Resources, Inc.
PWR. PWR's role will be to provide advice and consulting services in the fields of
engineering and geomorphology.
The activities outlined below extend the initial fluvial geomorphic services performed
previously. Those services were described in our original scope of work dated October
24, 2003. The project approach and understanding set forth in that document remain
operational for this work.
Task -Design Support Services for Dragonfly Bend Habitat Enhancement Project
Objective: To provide advice and limited technical support related to sediment transport
and channel enhancement design and construction. Services will be in the form of design
reviews documented by memos of the City's Dragonfly BHEP.
Activities:
1. Review the City's plan and technical specifications. PWR will review
construction documents and supporting materials produced by the City at
approximately 60% completion..The purpose of this review will be to evaluate
design methods, details and plans for applicability, function (or performance) and
constructability. At this time PWR is not awaze of the number of plan sheets,
details, notes, and specifications which the City desires for review. For this
reason, PWR will perform a cursory review initially and work with the city on a
prioritization scheme.
2. Review the City's existing hydraulic model Using the existing simplified XP- -
SWMM model and/or other simplified methods, modify the model in the
Dragonfly reach to reflect proposed conditions. Utilize the model to estimate
flow velocity in the channel for the 100-year storm event. This flow velocity will
be utilized to review designs for: channel geometry, proposed structures and bank
stabilization. PWR will report any concerns regarding structure hydraulic
performance and stability for the 100-year storm event. Where appropriate, PWR
will provide referenced design literature to support identified concerns.
3. Assess and evaluate sediment transport issues. Using flow velocities from the
model PWR will evaluate the design for potential scour or deposition issues.
Where issues are raised PWR will offer recommendations for achieving a more
balanced sediment transport condition.
4. Report resuhs. PWR will report findings, recommendations and conclusions in a
brief memorandum. The memorandum will include (where appropriate):
literature references, plan mazk-ups and calculations to support PWR's advice and
recommendations.
5. Optional engineering services (as authorized). This activity provides identified
funds should the City ask PWR to perform detailed design calculations to support
any aspect of this project. We propose to perform authorized services on a time
and materials basis. The budget for any work authorized will be negotiated at that
time based on the needs of the particular assignment. If the fee required exceeds
the amount shown on the attached fee estimate then additional funding will be
PACIFIC
WATER RESOURCES INC.
