a. The City's Contract Manager shall notify the Contractor of the desired delivery date(s) <br /> two weeks prior. <br /> b. Delivery of plants shall occur in multiple installments in numbers designated by the <br /> City's Contract Manager to allow ample time for the plants to be transplanted at the <br /> restoration site. <br /> c. The Contract includes delivery of all plants to a designated site at the Bureau of Land <br /> Management's wetland field office located at 751 S. Danebo Avenue, Eugene, OR, <br /> 97402. <br /> d. The City's Contract Manager or designee shall inspect the plants at delivery~to ensure <br /> quality and quantity. <br /> 1.2. Plugs <br /> 1.2.1. Material shall be delivered in seedling trays with cavities having a minimum volume of <br /> 7.0 cubic inches, a minimum depth of 4.5 inches, and a minimum top diameter of 1.7 <br /> inches. Approved seedling containers include Landmark seedling tray style 50-ST, <br /> Beaver Plastics Styroblock style 10S or equivalents approved by the Contract Manager. <br /> 1.2.2. in order to acclimatize the plant material to field conditions and to lessen the shock <br /> associated with transplanting, plants shall be "hardened-off "(i.e., tempered for field <br /> conditions) by gradually introducing them to an uncontrolled environment two weeks <br /> prior to delivery. Other preparations may be necessary to ensure that plants are <br /> prepared for the field upon delivery. <br /> 1.2.3. Acceptable plants shall be disease-free, vigorous, and have tops and roots of about the <br /> same density. Roots should extend to the bottom of the containers, but they should not <br /> be root bound. (wound around the inside of the container). <br /> 1.2.4. There will be two categories of species grown out: as plugs. The first category, <br /> designated for `year 1 delivery,' are those species that will germinate soon after sowing <br /> and be ready for planting the following fail. The second category, designated for `year 2 <br /> delivery,' tends to germinate the following year after sowing.. These species will be <br /> ready for planting the second fall after sowing. These two categories will be priced <br /> separately (see Attachment A), <br /> 1.2.5. Plug species and quantities for 2005: The following species and quantities shall be <br /> grown to specifications indicated using seed provided by the City of Eugene Parks and <br /> Open Space Division.
