Exhibit B -Work Plan -
Environmental Studies Service Learning Program
For Delta Ponds Monitoring Project
I.OVERVIEW
The Delta ponds are located between the Willamette River and the Delta Highway in Eugene. This
city owned and managed property provides critical habitat for a variety of native and threatened
terrestrial and aquatic species as well as recreational opportunities for Eugene residents. The 154
acre area will undergo extensive restoration work to increase connectivity with the Willamette '
River, improve water quality, habitat for salmon, western pond turtles and other species, and
improve the trail system azound the ponds.
In prepazation for this lazge restoration effort, the City of Eugene (hereafter referred to as the City)
wants to know more about the fish, neo-tropical migratory birds, western pond turtles, and other
amphibians and reptiles currently using the ponds. The City also wants long-term monitoring plans
for these species that can be administered by volunteers (i.e. Stream Team volunteers).
This work program below describes what and how the University of Oregon's Environmental
Studies Service Learning Program (SLP) will monitor at Delta Ponds. The work plan also describes
the education and outreach work the SLP team will perform.
II.
