Public Works
Engineering
City of Eugene
244 East Broadway
Eugene, Oregon 97401
(541) 682-5560
(541) 682-8410 FAX
Memorandum
Date: 11/19/2004
To: File
From: Matt Rodrigues, Project Manager PWE
Subject: JN 4258- 26th and Hilyard; Traffic Signal Project
This project will include the construction of a signalized intersection at 26th and
Hilyard. The construction of this signalized intersection will provide a direct crossing

~r?. route to Amazon Pool for pedestrian traffic. This will facilitate the removal of the
existing mid-block signalized pedestrian crossing 900' south of the 26th and Hilyard
intersection which does not align with the localized pedestrian movement crossing
Hilyard St., a minor arterial, to access the Amazon Pool Facility. Construction of a
signalized intersection will also facilitate improved efficiency in the traffic flow into
and out of the Amazon Pool facilities.
Funding for this project will be 50% TransSDC improvement funds from line item
"Traffic Signal Improvements and Upgrades", and 50% POS Park Bond Monies. The
preliminary estimate is based on funding availability as well as initial estimates from
PWE and the PWM Traffic Operations Department. The budget will be revised as
preliminary design investigation and departmental coordination narrows the scope of
work.
