This will end up being in the general category of Infrastructure (Projects ending
with a 4). Infrastructure covers those capital assets that are stationary in nature and can be preserved for
a significantly greater number of years than most other capital assets. This covers a wide area and ends
up consisting of roads, bridges, sidewalks, and traffic and lighting systems.
Examples of how we classify land improvements are a park improvement. For example, a vacant lot may
become a parking lot, a hiking trail may be put in, or park benches installed. Let me know if you have any
further questions.
Mary

~r
-----Original Message-----
From: HAMLIN Peggy D
Sent: Thursday, December 02, 2004 2:30 PM
To: JOBANEK Andrea L; NICKELSON-HILL Mary E
Subject: Capital Project
Question,
Traffic Signal and sidewalk installation project
For fixed asset purposes, is this a land improvement or street project?
My call would be land improvement.
Thanks,
Peggy Hamlin
Financial Analyst
Public Works Administration
682 5834
12/14/2004
