Decision Package Title: Crest Drive Context-Sensitive Design Process
3. Is this aone-time expenditure request? XX Yes No
4. Description of request; justification of request; consequences if denied:
The proposed funding, in the form of an inter-transfer from general fund reserves, will be used to develop and
implement a context sensitive design process for portions of Crest Drive, Friendly Street and Storey Boulevard in the
Crest Drive neighborhood. The process will include public involvement, topographic survey and design components
and result in an approximate 60 percent design. The level of design will be such that individual property owners will
know how the proposed street will affect their property and the neighborhood will know how the street will look
from one end to the other. Approximately $80,000 of the $240,000 is specific to the context sensitive design
process. The remaining $160,000 represents costs that would normally be incurred in a street improvement project.
Therefore, if at the conclusion of a successful context sensitive process a decision is made to move forward with an
assessment project, then approximately $160,000 could be rolled forward into a local improvement district, and any
proceeds repaid to the General Fund.
5.
