Sox 71158 <br /> <br /> Eugene, OR 97401 <br /> Subject: Proposal for geotechnicaf engineering services <br /> Tax lot 1300, tax map 17 04 2911, lane County <br /> Eugene, Oregon <br /> PURPOSE ANp SCOPE <br /> K & A Engineering, Inc. is pleased to have the opportunity to provide this proposal for geotechnical engineering <br /> services. Our understanding is that you have been approached by the City of fugene #o determine the nature <br /> and depth of fills tha# have been placed on the subject 1.54-acre project site. Based on our study of h'rs~oric <br /> aerial photographs and recent aerial photography, it appears that most of this site was, at one time, excavated <br /> (possibry far mineral Extraction} and Filled with water The site was filled sometime after 1977. The depth and <br /> nature of fill is to be determined and is the purpose of this irivestigation. <br /> Our understanding is that you would provide drilling services and K & A Engineering, Inc. would provide a field <br /> geotechnicai engineer to inspect and record the borings and make a report that summarizes the field work. and <br /> makes recommendations forthe depth, extent, and nature of the fills, underlying native ground, and groundwater <br /> levels. <br /> PROPOSED ENGINEERING SERVICES <br /> Project Alternatives <br /> We are providing two atternafives for your consideration. Alternative 1 assumes that K 8~ A Engineering, Inc. is <br /> the principle contractor to the t;ity of Eugene and, as such, subcontracts driNing serves to you. Alternative 2 <br /> <br /> assumes that you are the principle contractor to the City of Eugene and K & A Engineering, {rrc. is providing our <br /> engineering services to you as a subcontractor. <br /> Both alternatives consider making 5 borings with an average depth of 35-feet, including standard penetration <br /> testing and split spoon sampling at 2.5-feet for the first 10-feet and at 5-foot increments thereafter. <br /> Alternative 1: K & A Engineering, Inc. Prime Contractor <br /> We will schedule and supervise drilling and make our reporting directly to the City of Eugene. Bergeson-Bosse <br /> will provide K & A Engineering, Inc. with driNirg services per our request including completion of State of <br /> Oregon drilling reports. <br /> <br />
