Two children hav'e recently
drowned at this previous gravel extraction site and brought local awareness of water safety to a much higher level.
Public pressure has leveraged funding to enhance this site for increased safety. In the creation of these safety features
we also are able to enhance and improve habitat for Western Pond Turtles as well as other riparian habitat.
Transforming steep banks into gentle sloped banks wilt provide improved nesting for the turtles and provide a better
aquatic zone typical for emergent vegetation. This will provide sustainable odonate habitat that will be a key in the
biological foundation of the site. Working with ODFW is helping establish our design criteria. Following this example
of partership, material removed from this site will be instrumental in providing riparian benches for the Delta Ponds
habitat im rovement ro'ect desi ned b the Cor of En ineers and artnered with the Ci of Eu ene and others.
Project Description:
Please describe in detail the proposed removal and fill activities, including the following information:
^ Volumes and acreages of all fill and removal activities in waterway or wetland separately (see above)
^ Permanent and temporary impacts (see above)
^ Types of materials (e.g., gravel, silt, clay, etc.) (see above)
o Ho the project will be accomplished (i.e., describe construction methods~(~: titi ~rEat~*. yft~° ~,.~°~;~;a~;) I:~~~,G;r°{y3~~ ~r~~,~ ~;~i=rxra~yc.~
ti~;yu ~~(' )1°£i:C;f..'~ ~~2f,7" gl':i~c: ~C+ f.!!d,' ~?1%L~7';'I71~It.; C.it"1~.~ ~"C~1'"(JiC7=~ti; L'~?:,~#"C#L.'I<. f'iS~7~.'.5' d;,;%.. _ ~e?e?E.'#"Ct~ ~i(7"c.'=.;~7sitr E"3f ,§'~YF.'~d3r? f1Yli:t~.4'Pti ;.Xi;z,'
S5~(1I~ :f'` !if?LS%.
