Development Report: High interest expected at'up-and-coming' land auction -The Register- Page 1 of 2 <br /> www.registerguard.com I ©The Register-Guard, Eugene,Oregon <br /> October 14, 2003 <br /> Development Report: High interest <br /> expected at 'up-and-coming' land auction <br /> By Christian Wihtol <br /> The Register-Guard <br /> The city of Eugene is putting up for auction a 16.5-acre parcel <br /> of land in Danebo that was at the center of a long legal battle <br /> and controversial settlement. <br /> The land is zoned for medium-density residential use - low-rise <br /> apartments - and the city expects much interest from <br /> developers attracted to the fast-growing Bethel-Danebo area, <br /> said Emmy Jenson, the city's property and lease manager. <br /> The Danebo area is thick with new housing subdivisions and <br /> retail outlets, and Jenson said a number of developers - local <br /> and out-of-area - have contacted the city about the site. <br /> "People see that as an up-and-coming area," she said. <br /> The city will auction the land, on <br /> the south side of Royal Avenue, <br /> ft• on Nov. 20.
