AMAZON CREEK CHANNEL IMPROVEMENT - PROJECT NO. 15-01 Continued)
e. Encroachments on the right-of-way were noted at the
following locations: scrap steel is stored along sections of the
shoulder (right bank) upstream of Oak Patch Street; a fence is
located along the shoulder (right bank) at the county fairgrounds;
and several mobile homes (left bank) are located near the shoulder
of the channel immediately upstream of Danebo Road. Though these
encroachments do not impact the integrity of the project, they will
limit access for construction equipment in these areas during
maintenance operations and will restrict construction operations
during times of flooding.
6. RESOLUTION OF PERMITS: None.
7. REQUIRED MAINTENANCE TO ENSURE PROJECT INTEGRITY: Listed in
order of priority are the following maintenance items that should
be corrected prior to the next inspection:
LOCATION REQUIRED MAINTENANCE ESTIMATED QUANTITIES
(RB) between Remove berry vines 0. 6 acres
Fairgrounds and from channel side
Polk St. slope
Channel between Selective mowing in 0.3 acres
29th and 33rd channel
Avenues
8. GENERAL RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE: The maintenance items listed
below currently do not impact the structural integrity of the
project but are recommended to prevent major repairs in the future.
a. Resurface access road (approximately 1,000 feet) between
Danebo and Terry streets. Approximately 100 cubic yards of 3/4
inch minus is required.
b. Remove encroachments within the project right-of-way which
limit access for maintenance operations and during times of
flooding. Ensure encroachments are coordinated with the City and
the Planning & Engineering Division of the Corps of Engineers,
Portland District.
9 . CONCLUSION AND RATING: Overall, the Amazon Creek Channel
Improvement project is in good condition. The maintenance program
is well executed. The inspection found the general maintenance of
the flood control works to be acceptable.
ohn Todd, P.E.
Civil Engineer
