A Geo-Tech, Doug Putnam
will be down here Thursday(20th) at approx. loam to look at the problems we
are having along the channel . Doug seemed to have some of the same concerns
I have about the type of failures we are having with such a dry year. Hopefully
he can give us some advice. The area's we will be looking at are;
1 . North side of the Amazon both east and west of Bailey Hill . The worst is on
the west side.
2. South side of the channel just west of Richardson Bridge. This is a area
that we repaired last summer with our traditional method and it kicked
within 3 months. This is the first time(besides Fir Butte) this has
happened to us. We have always had good success by benching the area
and building back up with rip rap.
If you want to look at Fir Butte while he is here we can probally do
that. This time of year we will probally have to walk in to that area.
What the Corp has told me in the past is that the Fir Butte slide is on
blue clay. The only way we can get that one to hold would be to drive
piling. Myron thinks we may be also looking at blue clay on the spot by
the Richardson Bridge. DR
