natural area, maintenance would be to eliminate any hazards that may exist. He said that if a trail
was developed thru the area an estimated 24 hours annually would be needed for maintenance.
During my site visit, I walked most of the property and did not see anything that would constitute
a hazard requiring clean up, from either vegetation or man made materials.
If acquired, the anticipated use of the property would be as a natural resource area with the
possibility of a trail as passive recreation. There would be a public benefit to have a trail through
this property connect the existing ridgeline trail with public right of way on either Donald or Fox
Hollow Road. A couple opportunities may exist for this to happen. Huntington PUD is a private
development to the north which has an undeveloped portion of its site in a wetland condition. If
they would agree, a path thru this area would provide the linkage to Donald Street. The upper
end of Donald Street near the intersection with Fox Hollow could be accessed if the owners of
Woodridge PUD agreed to a connection over the portion of their property that is under the BPA
line easement.
Recommendation:
Based on this initial analysis, I am recommending that the city accept the donation of this
property as a logical addition to the south hills ridgeline park system. With your approval and
direction, I will convey a copy of this analysis and the city's willingness to accept the donation to
the owner's attorney. I was in contact with him last week and he said if the city was inclined to
accept, he would let his client know so that an official offer could be made to us. Please let me
know if you have any questions or wish to view the site.
fhi
n Weber, Park Planner, PWM
cc: John Etter, Principal Landscape Architect, PWM
Johnny Medlin, Support Services Manager, PWM
Jack Long, Environmental Program Supervisor, PWM
Scott Plamondon, Urban Forester, PWM
Dick Morgan, Parks Maintenance Manager, PWM
