The concerns that Joe flagged (he also flagged them there) were
discussed and identified as issues to be worked on, but not significant enough to stop us from indicating to the
property owner's attorney that we were very interested in continuing discussions. (I would wonder if the BPA
access easement might work for us?)
So far what we have is an inquiry and a verbal statement from the attorney that his client is interested in donating
IF WE ARE INTERESTED IN ACCEPTING. There has been nothing in writing and once we have something
more substantial IN WRITING from the attorney we may find there are some strings attached that we haven't
been told of to date. (That has often been the case in the past.)
In summary, all that is being asked for right now is permission to indicate to the attorney that we ARE
INTERESTED. Then once we have something definite in writing from them we can really spend some time
working through any specific identified issues.
Since the whole purpose for this Natural Area Resources Group is to make sure all the players are involved in
such issues (and compiling a recommendation after looking at all the specific and often conflicting interests), I
think it would be appropriate to allow the group to continue with this issue. Once we get a formal response from
the attorney and we then know the SPECIFICS of the donation, we'll process it back through the group to identify
issues and make a recommendation. The recommendation will be forwarded to the appropriate division
managers (Les, Bob) for review and decision.
Since the Maintenance Division does not handle the formal transactions of land issues, Joe and his staff
(Russ/Walt) will be involved all the way through the process. Also, I'll flag John Weber to run this by Chuck Solin
once we have a formal offer from the attorney. (Chuck, if you want to know more about this earlier give John
Weber a call).
Thanks
Johnny
From: LYLE Les A
To: HAMMITT Bob; MEDLIN Johnny R
Subject: FW: Land Donation
Date: Thursday, March 09, 1995 4:57PM
FYI- some thoughts from Joe Ferguson.
