AUGUST 12, 1976
•
FttMORSE=PARkl
e(ANCEPTUAL LAND USE PLAN-
Although it is difficult to specifically indicate at this time the eventual use
of the Wayne Morse Park, we have conceptually analyzed the site and have concluded
the land uses as descirtred in the following categories. In order to follow this
area by area description, it would be necessary for you to follow along on the
aerial exhibit of this application where these areas are indicated.
1 . UPPER MEADOW
¢ ;area will be an open play field, small picnic area, and ball diamond. It
will be adjacent to the activity center which will supply the supporting facilities.
It is also an area where playground play apparatus could be located to serve the users
of the park and the adjoining neighborhood. Part of this area will have to be used
to enlarge the parking area because the existing parking is insufficient to accomodate
the future demand.
2., ENTRANCE AND PARKING AREA
This will be the main entrance and parking area for the total park at this time.
Any further entrance development or additional parking in other areas of the park
will have to be investigated thoroughly so as not to destroy the natural character
of the park. The parking will obviously have to be improved over what it is now and •
further studies will be presented during the development and improvement phase of
this park.
3. ACTIVITY CENTER AREA
This will be the working core of the park. It will include public restrooms ,
building and ground maintenance, both using the existing buildings. The caretaker
residence which will occupy the top floor of the existing ,house. This will be the
central control of the total park area. Activities of an organizational nature can
be well served and supervised from this area.
