HAMMITT Bob
From: ANDERSEN Chris F
To: HAMMITT Bob
Subject: RE: Wash/Jeff Park Rough Statistics
Date: Friday, October 06, 1995 5:03PM
Bob, I agree, a newsletter article would be helpful. I drove by the park on Wed. morning and observed just
what you described. THe crews did a nice job of clearing without making it look scalped. Your observations about things
improving is consistent with police impressions, and that of
folks in the neighborhood. By the way, the answer to where
are the folks going -- decentralizing to locations around the
neighborhood, and indoors.
From: HAMMITT Bob
To: ANDERSEN Chris F
Cc: WHITLOW Dave A
Subject: FW: Wash/Jeff Park Rough Statistics
Date: Friday, October 06, 1995 1:30PM
Thought you folks might be interested in Dee's report. Drive
by observations are that this project in conjunction with
police actions have made a definite difference in drug
activity. Hope it stays that way. Am nervous about where these
folks have migrated to. Hopefully its right out of town.
Wonder what impression having the sheriffs work crew on this
project made on the druggies??? Must have been some thinking
that if I keep up this illegal activity today I might be on
the sheriffs crew tomorrow wacking brush.
Was thinking about reformatting some of the info in Dee's
report for a council newsletter article. Then thought about
council newsletters being sent to the media so figured best
not. Any thoughts?? Could send info to Shawn as we have been
trying to keep him informed. Bob
From: GRISSELL Dee
To: HAMMITT Bob
Cc: MORGAN Dick A; BRETT Tom A
Subject: Wash/Jeff Park Rough Statistics
Date: Thursday, October 05, 1995 3:35PM
A few rough statistics rendered from the recent maintenance
performed at Washington/Jefferson Park. September 25-29,1995:
Sheriffs Work Crew, which is composed of 10 inmates with a
Supervisor @ $270/per day, worked a total of six , eight hour
days. ( Two complete crews, 22 people worked Sept.27) This
works out to 495 actual hours of labor performed for a cost of
only $1620.
Working alongside this Sheriffs work Crew were City employees
from the Riverside Crew, Irrigation Crew (Turf & Grounds),
Tree Crew , Concrete Crew, and Adult comm. Service.
Page 1
